Man Arrested for Harassment After Incident Involving Toy Gun with Laser

On May 31, 2025, at approximately 01:15 hours, police officers responded to a threats call at a residence located at 5517 11 AV NE. The caller reported that a male, later identified as Ebrima Badjan, had entered the basement of the residence with a handgun and was pointing it at others, including the caller's children. The suspect allegedly made threatening statements, saying 'I'm going to fucking kill you' while pointing the gun.

Upon arrival, officers detained a male matching the description provided by the caller, who was later identified as Tijan Sumbundu. However, after further investigation, it was determined that Sumbundu was not the suspect. Officers then spoke with the reporting party, Denise Flanagan, who explained that she had encountered Badjan in the basement and felt threatened when he pointed the gun at Sumbundu.

A search warrant was obtained, and SWAT officers took over the scene. Badjan was eventually taken into custody and arrested for harassment under RCW 9A.46.020. A search of the residence revealed a small silver toy gun with a built-in laser, which was confiscated as evidence. Badjan was transported to King County Jail for booking.

The incident highlights the importance of taking threats seriously and the potential consequences of using fake or toy weapons in a threatening manner. The police department's swift response and thorough investigation ensured the safety of all individuals involved and led to the arrest of the suspect.
