Accidental Discharge of Firearm Leads to Investigation in Local Neighborhood

An investigation is underway after a firearm was accidentally discharged in a local apartment, causing damage to the unit and a neighboring residence. According to the police report, the incident occurred on May 16, 2025, at approximately 02:24 hours, when the owner of the firearm, Hamze Z. Mousse, reported that his gun had fallen off a bed and discharged into the ground.
Responding officers arrived at the scene, located at 7701 Delridge Way SW, Apt 12B, and spoke with Mousse, who stated that he had just returned home from work and was retrieving a case for the firearm when it fell and discharged. The bullet penetrated the rug and floor, and pictures were taken as evidence. The officers also spoke with the downstairs neighbors, who reported that the bullet came through their roof into one of their unoccupied rooms, striking a dresser.
No one was injured in the incident, but the firearm was seized by police and entered into evidence at the Southwest Precinct, along with the spent cartridge. Mousse was provided with a property tag for the firearm and a business card with the incident number attached. The incident is currently under review, and authorities are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge.
