Knife Assault Incident Leads to Arrest at Local Housing Complex

In a dramatic series of events at a housing complex on Aurora Avenue North, a dispute between two residents escalated into an alleged knife attack, leading to police intervention and an arrest. The incident occurred on May 9, 2025, and involved 61-year-old Mary Hurley and 57-year-old Michelle Rosekrans.
According to the police report, officers were dispatched to the scene after a 911 call involving an open line revealed a heated argument between a male and a female, during which a woman claimed she had been attacked with a knife. Upon arrival, Officer Bror Grondal spoke with staff and the alleged victim, Rosekrans, who stated that Hurley had worn her clothes without permission, which led to the altercation.
Security footage reviewed by the officers revealed Hurley, who initially appeared in a wheelchair, attacking Rosekrans in the hallway before grabbing a large kitchen knife from a basket. The footage depicted Hurley charging at Rosekrans with the knife in hand, although the video did not capture any sound. Staff on the scene corroborated parts of the report, noting they had confiscated a knife from Hurley shortly after the confrontation.
The knife in question was seized as evidence, and Hurley was taken into custody by Officer Grondal and team. The involvement of emergency medical services was also reported, although the injury to Rosekrans' wrist was minor and non-life-threatening.
The incident has sparked concerns among residents and raised questions about security measures at the complex. Aurora House administrators have stated that they are cooperating with authorities in the ongoing investigation. Meanwhile, the police have yet to disclose further details about any additional charges or the legal proceedings that Hurley will face.
