Man Arrested After Attempted Beer Theft and Assault

In a recent incident at 3rd Avenue and Pike St, a man identified as Aaron Gilmore was arrested following an attempted shoplifting from a local Walgreens store. The incident, which occurred on the morning of April 25, involved Gilmore allegedly stealing a case of Modelo beer, valued at approximately $30.
According to the police report, Officer Cholo Ginter responded to a struggle between Gilmore and a security guard. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Gilmore resisted, allegedly kicking one officer in the groin and leg area and attempting to bite him. This resulted in additional charges of assault beyond the initial shoplifting allegations.
Following his arrest, Gilmore was transported to King County Jail, where he was medically declined before being taken to Harborview Medical Center for further evaluation. The officers involved in detaining Gilmore were wearing body cams, and the footage will likely provide additional context to the unfolding of events.
The Seattle City Attorney’s Office has requested to file charges for both theft and assault following the aggressive actions of Gilmore during the attempted arrest. This incident highlights ongoing challenges surrounding homelessness and criminal activities in the downtown area.
