Man Arrested After Behavioral Crisis Incident

In a tense encounter that took place on the evening of April 23, 2025, a man identified as Jaime Woodward Weindl was arrested following a series of disturbances near the Burke Gilman Trail. Seattle police officers responded to multiple calls reporting erratic behavior, including yelling and door handle pulling by the suspect.

Upon arrival, officers found Weindl shirtless and obstructing traffic, having thrown a Lime scooter into the roadway. The suspect was immediately recognized by the officers from prior arrests involving assault and harassment.

The situation escalated when Weindl allegedly assaulted a citizen named Daniel, who had been approached for help by another individual, Jimmy. Witness testimony indicated that Weindl pushed Daniel to the ground, punched, kicked, and used racial slurs against him.

Daniel's shirt was torn, and he sustained several small lacerations but declined medical treatment. Despite the assault and biased remarks, Daniel did not believe the attack was racially motivated but was rather a consequence of the suspect's behavior.

Officer reports describe Weindl exhibiting signs of mental distress, including paranoia and manic behavior. Officers handcuffed and arrested him, later recommending his case for referral to the Mental Health Court due to his history of crisis and substance abuse issues.

Weindl was transported and booked into King County Jail, and authorities continue to assess the incident for further legal proceedings.
