Seattle Man Arrested for DUI After Multi-Vehicle Collision

A Seattle man, Olandious Kirk Anderson, was arrested and detained for driving under the influence following a multi-vehicle collision on April 23, 2023. Officers from the Seattle Police Department responded to the scene at 12th Avenue and East Barclay Court after reports of a collision involving two moving vehicles and a parked Tesla.

According to the report, Anderson was driving a gray Audi northbound when it allegedly struck the rear of a red Toyota Corolla, causing it to collide with a parked Tesla. Anderson's Audi then veered off the road, hitting a tree on the sidewalk. Witnesses stated Anderson appeared to be trying to pass the Corolla at a high speed when the incident occurred.

Upon arriving, officers observed signs of cannabis use on Anderson, including a strong odor and visibly watery and glossy eyes. Despite denying having consumed alcohol, Anderson admitted to smoking cannabis after the crash due to nervousness. Officers found swisher wrappers and cannabis within his possession, further supporting suspicions of drug use.

Officers conducted an investigation which included witness statements and scene assessment, concluding that Anderson's alleged actions while under the influence led to the collision. Anderson declined to participate in field sobriety tests but was subsequently arrested and informed of his rights. He cooperated during the arrest process, and no prior DUI charges were found on his record.

Following the arrest, police applied for and obtained a search warrant for Anderson's blood, which was drawn at Swedish First Hill hospital for further testing. The findings of this test aim to confirm the level of intoxication at the time of the incident, determining his accountability for driving under the influence of narcotics.
