Seattle Woman Charged After Alleged Assault at Subway

Seattle police responded to an incident at a Subway restaurant on Rainier Avenue South on December 30, 2024, where a woman reportedly refused to pay for her drink and assaulted a staff member. Authorities report that the suspect, identified as Ruth Julia Hogan, became agitated when confronted about her payment.
According to the store manager, Naomi Hernandez, Ruth Hogan had been frequenting the store and causing disturbances. On this occasion, Hogan allegedly threw her drink at Hernandez and knocked over cups after a dispute over payment. The manager, who still had soda on her clothing from the incident, stated that Hogan claimed to have paid for the drink days prior.
Hernandez declined medical assistance but expressed her intent to press charges for assault. Hogan was subsequently advised of her trespassing ban from the property and was arrested. The case is recommended for misdemeanor prosecution under the Seattle Municipal Code for assault in the fourth degree.
The incident involved no injuries requiring medical attention. The police department continues to follow up on this investigation and urges community members to remain informed of legal procedures.
